Introducing Kinfolk Groups

kinfolk groups, companions, friends, supportKinfolk Groups are small groups within the Folkscape Community, who interact regularly to support each other and learn together on their similar Self unLimited adventures.

These groups are typically made, led and organised by Folkscape Members. The exception is for virtual/telepresence classes, where Team Self unLimited will take the lead to make a class group.

As a Folkscape Member you can belong to, or create, as many different Kinfolk Groups as you desire.

Why do Kinfolk Groups exist?

The Folkscape Community contains many Members – too many for you to have a close relationship with them all. And many of the Folkscape members may be on a different journey (different life-stage, difference scenario) in their workscape compared to you. So Kinfolk Groups are a way to be with people who know your name, your story, your concerns and your needs. They are a small set of individuals who more deeply know each other and use that knowledge to support each other.

How do I start a Kinfolk Group?

First Create the Group in the Folkscape. You choose the basic settings.  A key choice is whether the Group is Hidden (others can’t see the group in the group directory nor request to join), or Private (others can see the group in the group directory, but must request an invitation; group contents only visible to group members) or Public (open to anybody in the Folkscape).

You also select Tags for the group; this uses the same tags that you can set in your profile regarding Life-stage and Scenario. You may be creating a group to reflect a specific combination of Life-stage and Scenario, or multiple combinations – it’s up to you and the intentions for your group.

Then Send Invites to kindred spirits to join your group – selecting people from the Folkscape Members Directory.

How do I run a Kinfolk Group?

It’s your group, the creator and members decide how it should be run. You can interact solely online and/or make arrangements to meet in person.  One place to start is to share your stories and get to know each other.  Pick a discussion topic and start talking with each other.  Find out how you can give and receive support to fellow members of your group.

Kinfolk Groups are subject to the Folkscape Community Guidelines.
